Senior Researcher at Catalan Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF)

Dr. Lluís Brotons focuses his research on understanding the effects of different components of global change (e.g. climate change, changes in land use and their interactions) on ecological communities. His research is based on the integration of different approaches ranging from ecology, statistical, landscape and species distribution modelling to remote sensing science [of terrestrial agroforestry systems] . Unravelling the causes of past changes in biodiversity patterns under environmental change (e.g. land abandonment, landscape fragmentation, agricultural intensification and changes in disturbance regimes such as fires) allows critical calibration and development of models of future ecosystem response to further change.
