Dr. Mauro González is a Forest Engineer, Universidad Austral de Chile, Ph.D. (Geography) University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a full Professor at the Institute of Conservation, Biodiversity and Territory at the Universidad Austral de Chile (Valdivia), where he is the current director of the Center for Fire and Socio-ecosystem Resilience (FireSES), and a researcher of the Center for Climate and Resilience Research (CR2). His main research, teaching and outreach interests are focused on forest disturbances, forest dynamics, ecological restoration, ecology and conservation of native forests, fire history and climate change from tree-rings.
