Dr. Maya Zomer is a postdoctoral researcher at the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Center for Data Science and Environment at UC Berkeley. As a plant ecologist, she focuses on the intersection of post-fire recovery and climate change, contributing to the National Park Service Climate Change Decision Support project. Dr. Zomer brings expertise in post-fire regeneration in Mediterranean Basin shrublands under global change, as well as in fire impacts in Northern Andean páramo ecosystems. Dr. Zomer holds a PhD in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Valencia, Spain, along with postgraduate degrees in Ecology from the University of East Anglia and the University of Plymouth, UK.
