Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society
The Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society focuses on how wildfires begin, move across landscapes, and interact with people, ecosystems, and climate. The Centre is a collaboration between Imperial College London, King’s College London, University of Reading and Royal Holloway, University of London, funded by the Leverhulme Trust for the period 2019-2029. They develop tools, models, and data resources that make it easier to anticipate fire activity and support thoughtful, informed decisions. Working closely with practitioners and policymakers, their teams help shape practical, locally grounded approaches to living safely with fire. They also mentor and support emerging researchers, helping grow the next generation of leaders in wildfire science and resilience.
