Abstract
This research aims to observe and examine the effects of the practice of slash-and-burn RTQ in shifting agriculture, on the physical and chemical properties of the soil and the loss of biomass at the end of these practices, after a search was determined as a study site, a private property with a forest mass known as purma alta or high secondary forest in the community of Tarancato alto, Pichari district, Cusco Region, the owner carried out this practice and with his permission it was possible to obtain the data according to the research plan; analysis of the soil and the biomass present before and after the burning of the property, obtaining as a result data that demonstrate a change in its properties, significantly increasing the presence of organic matter, phosphorus and potassium, showing a greater variation in the first stratum of depth from 0 to 5 cm. In the chemical properties (exchangeable cations) there is a variation product of RTQ, causing changes in soil quality and nutrient absorption. In addition, changes in the soil such as the variation of pH in the most superficial stratum. Recommending further investigations with longer duration and ongoing evaluation over time to obtain information on the recovery or degradation of the affected soil.
